Crokinole update:  

We got our Crokinole Boards in last week and have shipped them out to all preorder customers.  These boards were inadvertently shipped with the wooden pegs still in the boards and consequently some customers have reported getting boards with damaged/broken wooden pegs.  If you have any damaged pegs please email toseth@maydaygames.com directly and we will be more than happy to send you out some replacement pegs at no cost. 

 It has also come to our attention recently that the Crokinole Board, while fully functional and a ton of fun for a reasonable price, was not made to our requested specifications.  We had ordered these from the factory with a 3/8 inch hardwood veneer and while we played on these boards and showed them proudly to thousands of people at GenCon and in our own gaming group, a customer recently reported that based on what he was seeing the boards are topped not with a 3/8 inch hardwood veneer but with a much thinner veneer that may not even be hardwood.  We don’t believe this will adversely affect the board’s gameplay or useful life and that it is still the very best value in the market.  We are working with the factory to get specifics of just what the veneer is and how this will likely affect the Crokinole Board’s playability, but even before we get a final verdict on this we wanted to make you aware of this issue.  We are therefore also extending to all customers of this first batch of boards a full one-year warranty.  If your board shows any undo signs of early wear and tear or has any decline in overall playability/appeal within one year we will gladly take the board back for an exchange for a new board or refund at your discretion. 

We have been inundated with customer emails stating that they got their boards and are extremely happy with them.  We don’t believe this manufacturer's variance will present a problem for you, but we wanted to make you aware of this situation and that you know we are 100% behind the boards we are selling.  We will post on our website with a final representation from the factory as soon as we have it and will continue to back all of our products 100% as we always have.

Please note we have sold out of the first wave of boards and have a backorder (waiting) list of over 50 orders for the next wave already, which will be in within 3-4 weeks.  This much smaller batch of boards was produced at the same time as the first batch and has the same production specs so they will also have a full one-year warranty.  Please contact us directly if you need anything else at all.

Here is what you are getting: Regulation size Crokinole Board measuring 30 1/4 inches across with a 26" playing area and 2" well around the edges. Middle hole is 1 1/2 inches around and the circle lines drawn at 4", 8" and 12" out from the center of the board. Board also has installed wire hanging hooks suitable for hanging your game when not in play. (But do so at your own risk!)

High-gloss finish on the surface of the board for easy sliding and maintenance. Water tight finish applied to the back to prevent warping from excess humidity or spills. We have had a lot of questions about the raw materials of the board. The board is an MDF base which is lacquered to prevent water absorption/damage even on the bottom. The base is constructed of a base of MDF and a deck (inner circle) of MDF that is attached to form the well around the edges of the playing area. The outer ring is also MDF to prevent warping over the years due to climate/humidity changes. The deck has a veneer that is lacquered and then highly polished and finished to provide maximum smoothness and slickness during game play. We recommend applying a 100% carnauba wax to the surface of the board and the discs for maximum disc speed (not Pledge!). The discs come in wooden boxes which double as score keepers. We also include proper care and maintenance instructions in a newly updated instruction book with nice graphics and several play variants. We are also happy to announce that we have included TWO sets of pegs, one that is all wood, and another that is wood with surgical/latex rubber, so all of you who prefer one over the other can choose when you get the board. You can put the pegs in to fit tightly, or you can drop a bit of wood glue in to permanently attach them if you want as well.
